Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service
Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) is a planning application framework. It is a centralized, Microsoft Office and Web-based planning, budgeting and forecasting solution that integrates financial and operational planning processes. Specifically, this planning framework is capable of reducing the time of planning cycles, improving accuracy of plans, providing a universal interface and methodology for inputs and reporting, tracking plans, and eliminating time lag between the time when plans are updated and reports are refreshed.
For VCU, some of the benefits include:
- A single set of standardized input templates, for authoring the budget
- A single, up-to-date, repository that contains all of the data (actual, encumbrance, budget permanent, budget current, and forecast), providing one version of the truth
- A much more efficient process in gathering data, consolidating information across the university, and reporting on it (database consolidates as data is entered)
- A self-serve model, allowing users the ability to execute ad-hoc analysis queries against all the data when needed
- Having access to all data, as a guidance tool, when authoring budgets
- Ability for the budget office to track and see the progress of various pieces of the organization, while budgeting (once the system is open to wider user base)
Note: Single Sign-on has been activated in PBCS. Going forward, you log in using your VCU e-id and password.
